Gaelic and Scottish history abound in St. Ann's Bay on the Cabot Trail...
This portion of the Cabot Trail enticed early Scottish settlers to its shores and now serves as a home to a wealth of local artisans. This inspiring setting still flourishes with Gaelic culture as well as locally produced fine crafts.
The St. Ann's Bay area offers the visitors a rare concentration of fourteen artisan studios and shops. Ranging from metal works to basket weaving to glass design, this diverse collection of artisans are often in their studios and willing to share their enthusiasm for their work with visitors.
A sense of history and tradition infuses St. Anns Bay as the area is home to the direct descendants of the Gaelic pioneers who settled here in the 1800s, many of whom keep the culture alive. Visit the Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts, unique in North America, and take any of their interesting courses (www.gaeliccollege.edu).
Visit the Great Hall of the Clans and a glimpse into this ancient culture still thriving through traditional Scottish song, dance, folklore and language.
