Fishing

Fishing on the Cheticamp River, (Pleau)A National Parks General fishing permit and/or National Parks Salmon licence is required to angle in the Park as well as a Park Entry Permit.

General Fishing Permit:  $9.90 (Daily)                 $34.65 (Seasonal)

 Salmon Permit:   $34.65 (Seasonal)

Angling for salmon is restricted to flyfishing only.

The following are highlights of the National Parks Fishing Regulations.  
A "catch and release only" regulation for Atlantic Salmon and Striped Bass in Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada is in effect as well as an additional "catch and release" rule for all species from September 1st until closure. Bridges - Anglers are not permitted to fish from bridges in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

The use on a watercourse of any type of motorized watercraft is prohibited.

Some waters are scheduled for fly fishing only.

NOTE: Due to below average salmon returns in recent years, the
Clyburn Brook and all tributaries as well as the North Aspy River and tributaries within National Park boundaries are closed to all angling as of August 31.
